Work & Career Mentoring

Work & Career Mentoring Services

Breaking into the world of work is hard, having someone with an insider’s perspective can be really valuable to help you get in.

Our mentoring sessions are flexible and structure to take place either remotely or in-person within our center or agreed venues. The duration of the mentoring session is not six months but may vary from 3 months to 2 years depending on the agreement between the mentor and mentee based on the assessments carried out and most importantly the need of the mentee.

If you are facing challenges in regards to finding or maintaining work, the Career Mentoring Service can connect you with an industry (work) mentor. Our mentors can support you to find, maintain and enjoy work in an area that interests you. The service can help you by developing your job seeking and industry-specific skills, and developing your work-related confidence. Each of our mentors work in different types of jobs and are matched with you based on your work interests. That means you’ll get advice and guidance from people who work in the field you’re interested in. All of the mentoring support happens online, so it’s easy to stay in touch and connect with your mentor, no matter where you live.

Who are the mentors?

The mentors in this service are professionals who understand how hard it can be to find and keep work, and want to help young people in their careers.

They come from a number of different industries, such as labouring and trades, customer service, administration, engineering, logistics, finance, management, sales, engineering, IT, management, communications, marketing and more.

Although there may not be a mentor working in your exact area of interest, all of our mentors have extensive professional experience and can help you to create a plan to get into the area of work you like.

Our mentors have different personal and cultural backgrounds, and where possible, we will help to connect you with a mentor who may have had similar life experiences. However, what all our mentors have in common is that they enjoy working with young people and are passionate about supporting their career goals.

How often would I meet with my mentor?

Our mentoring sessions are flexible and structure to take place either remotely or in-person within our center or agreed venues. All of this happens online, and you can decide how you want to get in touch (e.g. webchat, telephone or video call).

You can be matched with your mentor for a total of up to six months. This will give you enough time to get to know them and to work together on the goals you set.
